About Me

My name is Liam Gouveia, and I’m a 19-year-old student at the University of Nevada, Reno. I’m originally from the small mountain town of Bear Valley, California, where I lived until I was thirteen. Growing up in Bear Valley shaped a lot of who I am today it’s where I learned the value of hard work, discipline, empathy, and staying grounded in the outdoors and community around me
.
When I began high school, my family moved to Murphys, California, a few hours down the hill. This move opened the door to academic opportunities and, most importantly, competitive sports. Athletics have always played a major role in my life. Over the years, I’ve played soccer, baseball, basketball, and golf, each teaching me teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. At sixteen, I found my true passion, boxing. I’ve been committed to the sport ever since, and I am currently a competitive boxer for UNR, participating in NCBA Division I Boxing.

At UNR, I’m pursuing my degree in Finance while enjoying everything that college life has to offer. Joining a fraternity has helped me build strong friendships and become part of a supportive community. My older brother, Rowan Gouveia, also attends UNR and is now a senior, which has made the transition even more meaningful.

Family is a huge part of my identity. My mom, Jacquie, is from New Zealand, and my dad, Jeff, is from Oakland, California. Their different backgrounds have given me a broad perspective and encouraged me to stay open-minded, hard-working, and driven.

Overall, I’m a student, an athlete, and someone who’s motivated to grow both personally and professionally. I’m excited to continue building new skills, making connections, and pursuing the opportunities ahead of me.
